The goal for the day was Inverness. But as a favor to a friend, we swung by St. Andrews first, where Dave, a long-time golfer, was happy to pose. This is the famous St. Andrew’s 18th hole bridge, which, under the direction of the gift shop employees, you get to by climbing the fence ONTO the hole while in play!
On the way to St. Andrews, we completely lucked out and passed through Auchtermuchty, the source of much amusement, as it really is in the middle of nowhere.
Then, we headed for the hills. Beautiful landscapes abounded. Finally, IĀ could NOT stand seeing all that magnificent landscape flying by and BEGGED to stop the car.
We were in the hills above Pitlochry, after winding through Perth. It had been a while since we’d seen any people or traffic. When we got out of the car, we were surrounded by sheep fluff!
Once we came down from the hills, we enjoyed a tour of Scotland’s smallest distillery, Edradour. When we realized how late it was, and how far from home we still were, we bailed on Inverness and headed for home, pleased with what we DID find.
