Never mind the traditional anniversary gifts! For our 18th anniversary, Dave worked out a whole trip to surprise me: a flight to L.A., tickets for 2 tapings of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, a lovely dinner out, and our own tour of the city with GPS help.
Bruce had a great time on a 24-hour overnight with friends, and Jack visited a very large pack at the kennel. Everybody had an adventure!
The show we saw, from the CBS site: Craig Ferguson, 12 December 08. They switch to the audience a few times in the first 2 minutes; I am visible on the right-hand side in a brown sweater.
Being big fans of the show, it was a real treat to watch Craig in action and see how it works behind the scenes. I had no idea before this, but we were actually asked to work — our laughter being critical for Craig and the audience at home. In fact, we were told, we weren’t the audience at all, but “show enhancers” meant to be laughing even if we were shocked or offended. Well, luckily, not a hard job at all, as we were thoroughly entertained. We got to stay on for the 2nd taping, which was shown Dec 22nd, and also were treated to the musical guests from Dec 18th, Death Cab for Cutie! A very memorable anniversary — thank you Davey!
