After a couple of years without pets we decided last year to look for a new pup. There was MUCH debate on the breed and we finally decided on a yellow Labrador retriever. We also decided to start with a pup this time, Hank and Ed having both been rescue dogs, and Dave wanting to see what raising a puppy was like. After missing out on a few litters, along came this group of 8 pups, 6 black and 2 yellow. Jack is the yellow pup in the background of this photo. His much more active sister is the yellow puppy climbing out of the kennel!
A few weeks later the pups were ready to go home and off we went to pick up Jack. He had been eating well that few weeks as you can see in this picture. For a while we thought we might have a Shar-Pei, not a lab!!! Nevertheless, he did great in the car on the way home and quickly settled into his new digs.
Here is Jack in one of his few awake moments those first few days. He had amazingly soft puppy fur still, which quickly was replaced by “real” fur. We all miss that soft puppy fur but thankfully his new coat has softened with age.
