When we’re not traveling we try to enjoy the city around us. I keep an eye on local events, Dave keeps an eye on the weather, and between us we come up with plans.
Recently, I noticed the South Lake Union area was having a food truck bonanza. It was worth a stroll from our place, to see what we could find. And what we found is that apparently, you can spiral potatoes onto a long stick, fry the heck out of them, and hand them out for $$s. Sold!
Next, thanks to advance warning from our local rag, I snagged tickets for Eddie Izzard at the Paramount.
What a treat to have this beautifully restored venue within walking distance from us! This is a detail from the ceiling, since for once we were allowed cell phone use inside. And seeing Eddie perform live, even figuring out bits of his act in front of us, was wonderful.
Most recently, we ticked off a summer to-do: work out the walk-on ferry system from downtown Seattle. The weather looked good, we beat the crowds over to Bainbridge Island, and the view coming back was spectacular: look at that skyline!
We were able to browse the local farmer’s market, see the exhibits at the art museum, and sample the local ice cream. Now it’s time for a new list of places to explore. Tips appreciated!
