How, in the midst of a pandemic, are you celebrating birthdays? Normally, we would have a family meal together, out at a restaurant chosen by the celebrator.
This year, when we didn’t even think we’d still be worrying about this come January, we had a boy turning 23, who happened to be camping out with us in Whistler, post-holidays. His classes didn’t start until the following week, so we tried to figure out some ways to make the day special.
Thanks to a great tip, we’d found a local private caterer. For the birthday event, we crafted a meal from their delicious menu options, they could drop off for the three of us to heat and enjoy together.
Compared to previous years up here, when only a full house felt normal, we were so glad that at least the 3 of us could celebrate in person. Here’s to another year, birthday boy!
