For our first outing, we headed across to see our view from the other side. Of course, this means driving up the river to cross it, then back down again — part of the fun! We were testing our own GPS system and its newly bought UK map. Once we got to the west side of the river mouth, we were in Dawlish Warren, a nature reserve which, since it was quite a nice day, counts as a beach. This shot, pointing back towards Exmouth, is looking right at our flat, which is just south of the square tower.
Along with the lovely blue sky, there was a great breeze, so the guys took advantage of perfect kite weather. It’s a two-handed hand-strap multi-string system, and the kite makes a mean divebombing sound as it gets near.
As we headed back to the car, across an oddly empty beachfront, we heard a huge roar from the tent pub, where England had just scored against Slovenia to make it into the final 16. Woot!!
