Bruce in Costa Rica

Bruce’s 8th grade class went to Costa Rica, to top off three years of middle school. Here’s our boy, with a couple of classmates, at the airport, ready to go.

The class had a great itinerary, ranging from scientific data collection to a homestay, beaches to mountains to jungle, hotel comfort to solar-powered eco-lodge, and lots of Spanish to practice.

Optimizing on last year’s inaguaral trip, this year added more adventure: whitewater rafting, zip-lining, and lots of hikes.

Here, the class is about to hike up a volcano. They didn’t get close to any lava, or in fact, see any at all, so they were quite safe.

This sloth was just one of many wildlife creatures, but the only one with its own path across the road. The gang also saw monkeys, toucans, iguanas, and lots of bugs. Unfortunately, even though they tried, they didn’t get to spot any sea turtles.

It was a busy ten days, and Bruce was bursting with stories when he returned. What an adventure!

Many thanks to classmate Justin for the photos, borrowed from Facebook.
