Oh my, our boy has flown the nest! We have just returned from Los Angeles, without the contents of two heavy checked bags, and without a boy.
Here’s a snippet of life for Bruce: as he checks in to get his room (bottom left), his desk and computer setup (bottom right), and the view out the window to his left (top).
Moving in was pretty smooth, as it appears that UCLA has done this several times before. Bruce is in a triple room, with one roommate there to greet us, and another who arrived the next day. We were pleased with the secure building — a card key AND a PIN to get into his room, plus a locking top drawer — and decent amount of storage.
After getting the contents of all the luggage stored away, and the computer set up, we headed out for a farewell dinner in Westwood. The next day, there were just a few tweaks, a sampling of cafeteria food for lunch, and a visit to the bookstore. Now, he’s on his own!
Wishing our boy lots of luck and adventures, while we try to fill up our much emptier calendar back home.
