Exploring Northern Scotland

Having visited Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Stirling in previous visits, we chose Nairn as a new base, not realizing its benefit of being in a rain shadow. So despite being as far north as Hudson’s Bay, and it being mid-October, this is actually a beach vacation — see?

My goal was more structure & rigor for my usual photo- and inspiration-gathering for my art; Dave’s goal was to relax and disconnect from constant work worries. So, I distracted Dave by setting us some location goals, reached via interesting roads, and tried to capture what we found. See how we did:

We loved being based in one place, with errands and food conveniently nearby, going out to explore by car or on foot, then  relaxing in a home environment. And, as with every visit, we were captivated by the landscapes and sense of history. My art will benefit in the long run — see details here.  Looking forward to our next trip already — we just need to pick a new corner of the country!
