Today, the beach house became rubble.
A long process, started before Covid (!!), of designing a new structure for this spot, has become very real. Discussions became plans, plans became permit applications, and now, with permits approved, and our new, modular design well underway, demolition started on the old place.
It was not in good shape. The windows were failing, after already being replaced, the sunroom hosted bats, the front staircase had already collapsed with Dave on it, and, as it turns out, the front door was feeding very busy carpenter ants.
Still. So many good memories of quiet mornings, beach walks, game nights. Which we will have again, soon! We saved the old rose, but due to septic field locations, couldn’t save much else. The garage is still standing, useful for both the crew and some of our stuff. But everything else is going to look very different!
