Halloween 2009

Photo by Laurie Thompson, used with permissionHalloween: not necessarily time for scary costumes at my age! We had a western theme at Vista, and I was a snake-oil vendor, carrying the sign-up sheet for:

Dr. B. Harold Oliver’s
New and Improved
Essence of Aphroditium
Cures amputation and decapitation, deafness, urge to jump up and down, genetic mutations, skin rashes, and itchiness.

At Vista, we had an annual Halloween parade. I walked to the gym (in the rain), sat down, walked across a stage, sat down again, stood up, and did the “Monster Mash”, a very funky dance along to a song. Fortunately, that was not all, and at lunch, we had our traditional Hot Lunch Friday, along with a very fun Halloween party and movie (GhostBusters II, appropriately!). There was also an “eat-the-donut-on-a-string-without-using-your-hands” activity that I was part of, and so were the teachers at the end! And then, of course, after school we went trick-or-treating (with no tricks, only treats) and came home with lots of candy. (Although, during trick-or-treating, I chose to dress up as a mad scientist with an evil bunny on my head, which lead to some googly-eyes!)
