After a long drive into the park from Missoula, we had just enough time to head down to Old Faithful before our dinner reservation at Chico Hot Springs. We thought it would be a fairly simple drive from the West entrance, but we didn’t count on running into herds of bison, a coyotes, elk, other thermal features etc…
After these delays, our timing was looking pretty tight and we were most fortunate to be just walking towards the Old Faithful viewing area as the event started!!
The geyser put on a beautiful display; even the steam phase seen here was a sight to behold. Winter is knocking at the door in late October above 6000 feet, as you can see by the snow in the background.
After the geyser event, we headed back to the car and with the help of some liberal interpretations of Montana speed limits, JUST made our dinner reservation 30 miles north of the park!!
