I enjoyed a quick trip to San Francisco to meet my brother and sister-in-law. I had been there a couple of times, but briefly and not recently; they had never been. My brother had to attend conference sessions for the most part, but we set off on a walk down to the Ferry Building my first night in, and saw the sunset reflected on the Bay bridge. We came back here another morning for a wonderful breakfast at Boulette’s Larder and a tour of the farmers’ market.
During the day, we set off to see the city as efficiently as possible. At first, the best method seemed to be by tour bus. But when we took the wrong one (not enough stops or buses running), we were less sure. We switched to a better tour company and got an unforgettable trip through the fog and wind across the Golden Gate bridge. Still wanting to optimize, we got off the bus and started walking. Best idea yet! We found a great lunch restaurant, Greens, in the Fort Mason complex, then turned and walked all the way up & down Lombard St. Best way ever to experience the architecture and views. We continued through North Beach, stopping at City Lights bookstore, and skirted Chinatown as we headed back to the hotel for a great dinner.
