We flew to Bristol for a long weekend to celebrate: Dave’s cousin Paul and his long-time partner Anthony (known to all as Ant) formalized their union in a civil partnership ceremony.
Here we are, waiting for the happy couple to arrive in the Mayoral Room of the Registry Office. In front of me, that’s (L to R) Sheila & Jane, Dave’s cousins, along with their partners, Glenn and Neil, respectively. Sheila is pulling off a stunning red pantsuit with her white fascinator, while Jane joins in with a magenta topper. I did not get the headgear memo.
There was an extensive day of festivities planned out for us:
- 11:00 am: Drinks at the Grand Hotel
- Noon: Partnership ceremony
- 1:00 pm: Walk through town to lunch
- 2-4 pm: Luncheon by the river
- 6 pm: Ferry ride through the Bristol waterways
- 6:30-9:30 pm: Drinks and more food at the Nova Scotia pub
- 9:30 pm: Ferry ride back
We enjoyed catching up with family, and exploring the very walkable docks and city. After the festivities, we sped down to Devon to catch Dave’s Aunt June up on how it all went. Only two years since our last visit, a happier occasion, and good laughs. So glad we went!
