It almost felt normal. We were at Whistler, during ski season, and not even quarantining like last year. And we had guests!
Dave’s cousin George (striped sweater, below), his son Duncan (hoodie, left of George) and Duncan’s girlfriend Brianna came up for a Whistler visit. Due to COVID precautions, they stayed at their own place, but joined us for dinner a few times.
Like so many times at this accommodating place, we had more than just us around the table, and it felt wonderful and weird at the same time: actual conversation, fun stories from the ski hill, lots of laughter.
What was different? Quick COVID tests as party favors with the appetizers, food ordered in rather than cooked (SO much easier to accommodate food allergies) — that’s it! I think this is sustainable, going forward. Let’s do it again!
